New York: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a positive step toward reducing tensions in the region.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Guterres expressed hope that the ceasefire will create a conducive environment for lasting peace and the resolution of broader mutual issues.
"It is hoped that this agreement will help foster an atmosphere suitable for durable peace and the resolution of outstanding issues," the statement said.
The United Nations reaffirmed its support for efforts to promote peace and security in the region.
